If we look at the Bible as the BOOK OF THE COVENANTS it gives us an insightful new perspective. The Bible is not simply a collection of poems, hymns, histories, promises and prophecies written over the course of centuries. It is really one book that tells an amazing story. It is the story of God’s love and plan for His people. It is the story of how He slowly and patiently unfolded His plan for the world, how He taught His people the reason they were created - to share their lives with Him, to be part of His family, to be His children and to be God’s ambassadors to the rest of the nations in the world. The motivation for this book is the deep historical and spiritual commitment in the ministry and evangelistic outreach of the Christian church that extends appeals and invitations to members of all Christian faiths to come closer to the Remnant of God. What we have failed to take into account, is that people of many faiths feel alienated and alone as they ponder the often scary choice of stepping out of their deeply rooted covenant family into a new worldview and experience. The teaching of being a follower of the Covenant family of God is a fundamental and essential concept to many Christians. From childhood both Protestant and Catholic adherents are socialized to believe that they belong to a wider family, the covenant family of God. Children have godparents that care for their spiritual growth, parents are instructed that newborn infants be baptized as soon as possible to bring them into the covenant family, and teachings and behavior are used to enforce their theology of a personal relationship to the God of the Covenant. The answer to this dilemma is that instead of folks of other faiths feeling that you are leaving your covenant family - you are invited to take a step closer into God’s real covenant family – and we need a tangible teaching of the beautiful Covenants presented in the Bible. The following is suggested, hoping that a deeper search of the powerful Word of God will lead to new and older Christians having a better perspective of God’s Covenant family throughout the ages.
